DIAMOND STUD EARRINGS
DIAMOND STUD EARRINGS
There are certain steps women can adopt in getting an appropriate diamond stud earrings that fit their ear well. A well-made diamond can drop down or sit smartly forward on the ear lobe. It’s not nice investing in a pair of diamond that has sloppy appearance when worn.
We’ll be looking at the smaller stones before considering setting style. Getting a half carat or less total weight diamond would be advisable because it’s very light, knowing full well that a diamond weighs a quarter carat. But if you consider buying two or more large pair of earrings, you will need to look at the setting style that would be described below.
Crown Style Settings: This setting is a bit weighty. Most times retailers love to sell a crown style setting that moves the diamond forward causing the earring to drop downward in your ear lobe which results in a careless look. The setting of the crown style looks so much like a metal cup with oval cutouts which extend into four different pongs that secure the diamond.
Basket Style Setting: This style is mounted better in a deep basket setting which helps in balancing the weight more evenly resulting in an earring that displays straight forward in the ear. This setting is a lighter open wire which looks like a hoop placed at the bottom with four perpendicular prong wires and a second hoop extending near the top. So in other words, basket setting is not sold metal. In purchasing a basket setting, the diamond must be very low in the basket in order to maintain the center of gravity as close to the ear lobe as possible for a better and proper fit.
Martini Style Setting: This style is the best setting and quite hard to find because the back of the diamond called culet rests nearly against the ear lobe. In this type of setting, the center of gravity is furthered backward, the diamond rest straight forward for a neat, clean and nice look. Martini style setting is set in a way in which the diamonds with three prongs are opposed to four prongs as in the earlier styles of setting. This simply shows off the brilliance and fire of the diamond more appropriately because there’s a little metal covering the stone itself. If you closely look and hold the Martini setting posted downward, it looks like a Martini glass coupled with three simple wires that keeps the diamond and extends to three prongs.
If you intend getting any large pair of a diamond, I advise and recommend a Martini Style Setting. It suits best.
Other Style Setting: There is another style known as Euro wire setting also called Lever – Back Setting. It is a pretty setting but not a diamond stud. This type of style setting is the one that is C- shaped, wire in nature and fits through your ear piercing and snaps shut in the back. The C- shaped wire is hidden behind the ear, making the diamond stud rest beautifully just beneath the ear lobe, rather than inside. The diamond rests straight forward just below the ear lobe to create a nice look because the weight and shape of the wire behind the ear insure it.
