New Year’s Eve Glittery Star Headband

I don’t know about you guys but I definitely have a love/hate relationship with glitter. I absolutely hate how it gets everywhere but I LOVE the way it looks on this New Year’s Eve glittery star headband craft! It’s going to look so festive that I don’t even mind that I’ll be finding pink glitter all over my studio for months. Not that into the color pink? No worries! Consumer Crafts has a great selection of super fine glitter in every color of the rainbow!

Supplies needed to make your own star headband craft:

  • White Glitter Flat Star Ornaments
  • 3/8″ Black Elastic
  • Jewelry Silicone Glue
  • Mod Podge
  • Extra Fine Glitter
  • Spray Sealant

Unless you’re happy with the look of the white glittered stars, the first step is deciding what color of glitter to use. Consumer Crafts has so many options that it may be a bit overwhelming to decide. I suggest you consider what outfit you’re planning on wearing and then plan your headband color accordingly. I love getting the glitter sampler pack so that I’ve got tons of options! Apply a generous layer of Mod Podge to the front of the stars and sprinkle glitter all over.

Once the Mod Podge has dried on the front, apply more to the sides of the star and add some addition glitter to cover completely. I know all that glitter is messy but your super cute star headband craft will be well worth it!

With your stars placed to the side to dry, cut a strand of elastic to make the headband. You can either place the ends over each other (forming a circle with the entire elastic strand) and sew across or just tie them in a knot if your hair is long enough to cover it.

Once the glitter has dried completely on the stars, apply a few coats of the clear spray varnish to make sure the glitter doesn’t continue to flake off all night. When dry, you can use the silicone glue to adhere the stars in place. If you’re super short on time or don’t plan on using your headband for much more than one night, you can also use hot glue. Just keep in mind that it won’t be as secure!

I love how fun and festive this New Year’s Eve glittery star headband looks in my hair and can’t wait to wear it out!

Again, if you don’t like pink, Consumer Crafts has so many awesome colors of glitter to choose from. Hope you enjoy making one!
