Bunny Ear DIY Floral Headband

With Easter coming up, I wanted to create something floral and fun for my new little. This glittery bunny ear headband is perfect – not only for Easter day, but also for spring photos! It’s so easy to create it, and you definitely don’t need a machine to cut the elements – just plain old scissors! See how I made this DIY bunny headband so you can make one for yourself or your little, too!

Supplies needed to make your own DIY bunny headband:

  • White Stiff Felt
  • Felt
  • Scissors
  • Pompom Balls
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Iron
  • Nylon Headband or Plastic Headband
  • Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl
  • Pattern

Step 1. First, cut the stiff white felt for the bunny ear base. You can print the pattern and trace it onto the felt sheet before cutting.

Step 2. Fold the two sides of the bunny ears together like in the photo below. A bone folder might help in creasing it easier.

Step 3. Attach your bunny ears to your headband base – here I used a nylon headband (tip – it’s made from pantyhose!) so it’s comfortable on baby heads but you can also use a plastic headband.

Step 4. Now cut the glitter htv for the bunny ears and iron them down. Remove the carrier sheet and your bunny ear base is done!

Step 5. Now let’s make some flowers to adorn it – here’s a couple you can do: You can cut individual petals and and attach them onto a rolled center; or you can cut a circle, before cutting slits on four opposite sides and rounding the segments into petals before attaching a rolled center. You can also make rosettes or other flower patterns, or experiment and come up with your own flower design.

Step 6. For leaves, just fold a piece of rectangle and cut an arc and you have a basic leaf shape.

Step 7. To assemble, first you want to set it up and see how you would like it to look like before gluing everything down. Start gluing the leaves first.

Step 8.  Attach the flowers using hot glue, making sure they are secure.

Step 9. For empty spaces, you can fill it with clusters of pom pom balls.

And you are done! This fun headpiece is easy to change up – make a unicorn headband for dress-up play, change the flower colors for a Fall look, or even add poinsettias for a Christmas feel. For me, I love this bunny one for a spring mini photoshoot!
