DIY Air Dry Clay Earrings
I never realized how easy homemade jewelry is to make. I always thought you needed special tools. However, I’ve recently tried my hand at DIY air dry clay stud earrings and was happily surprised how easy and quick they are to make. You simply need a small object that you want as an earring, some plain earring post and e-6000 glue. It’s amazing how quick of a project this is and so fun. I used clay for these earrings and painted them my favorite colors.
To showcase these DIY air dry clay earrings, I attached them to a paper card and used my handmade stamps. They will make great, quick gifts. Make a ton of them and save them when you need a quick, but cute gift. These could also be an easy craft item to sell at a local bazaar.
Supplies needed to make your own DIY air dry clay earrings:
- Air Dry Clay
- Earring Posts
- Colorful Paint
- Paint Brush
Step 1. Make Balls.
Using the air dry clay, roll really small balls, about the size of the tip of your pinky. You can experiment here with different size balls to get different size earrings.
Step 2. Flatten balls.
Now take the balls and gently squeeze into little disc, about 1/4 inch thick. Depending on the size of your ball, the size of the earring will vary. Try to get your two matching pair to be about the same size. Let dry for 2-4 hours or longer if needed.
Step 3. Paint and glue.
Next paint your little discs just on half of them. Let the paint dry. I also suggest painting a sealant onto the earrings so the paint doesn’t chip off. Then using E-6000, glue the discs to the studs and let dry.
And you’re done with your DIY air dry clay earrings. You could add so many different variations to these earrings. Instead of color blocking, you could paint stripes or polka dots, or if you’re really good small flowers. Or you could paint them a solid color or leave them plain clay.
